Welcome to GiftSpo (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our gift list management platform at https://www.giftspo.co/ (the “Service”).

2.1 Information you provide

• Account information: Email address, password (stored encrypted), and your first and last name. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from them.
• Profile data: Handle, photo, bio, and privacy settings
• Gift lists: List names, descriptions, occasions, event dates, gift items (links, titles, images, prices and notes), collaborators, and the people a list is hidden from
• Claims: Gifts you claim and whether you've marked them as purchased
• Connections: People you follow, people who follow you, and people you block
• Messages to us: Your name, email address and message when you use the contact form

2.2 Automatically collected information

• Usage data: Pages visited and actions such as creating a list, sharing, claiming, and opening product links. We collect this with Google Analytics, linked to your account ID when you're logged in.
• Device information: Browser type, device type, operating system, and IP address, processed by our hosting provider, Google Analytics, Vercel Web Analytics, and Cloudflare Turnstile
• Cookies: Sign-in cookies (required for the Service to work), Google Analytics cookies, and, when you follow a product link, cookies that retailers or affiliate networks may set to credit a purchase

3.1 Email types

By creating an account, you consent to receive the following types of emails:

Essential account emails (cannot be disabled)

• Email address confirmation when you sign up
• Password reset links you request

Activity notifications (can be managed)

• New followers, follow requests, and accepted follow requests
• Lists shared with you, and new lists from people you follow
• Invitations to co-manage a list
• Gift claim notifications
• Event reminders before a list's event date
• Claim reminders a week before an event, for gifts you've claimed but not marked as bought

3.2 Managing email preferences

You can turn activity emails off at any time on your Account page. Essential account emails cannot be turned off because the Service needs them to work.

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Create and manage your account
• Enable gift list creation, sharing, and collaboration
• Send you essential account and security notifications
• Send you activity notifications based on your preferences
• Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats
• Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With other users: Your profile and lists are visible to others according to your privacy settings, and to anyone you send a list link to
• Service providers: Services that help us run GiftSpo (listed below)
• Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or government request
• Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

5.1 Service providers we use

• Supabase: database, sign-in (including Google and Apple sign-in), and storage for photos you upload
• Vercel: hosts the website and processes each request to it. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights count visits and measure page speed without cookies.
• Postmark: sends our emails
• Google Analytics: measures how the Service is used
• Cloudflare Turnstile: checks that sign-up, log-in, password reset and contact form requests come from people, not bots, using signals from your browser and device. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• Google and Apple: only if you choose to sign in with them
• Sanity: hosts our gift guide content and images. It does not receive your account data.
• Affiliate programs: when enabled, product links may go through Skimlinks or the affiliate programs of Amazon, Target, Walmart or Apple, so we can earn a commission. These programs and retailers may use cookies to credit a purchase.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes:

• Encryption of passwords and sensitive data
• Secure HTTPS connections for all communications
• Regular security audits and updates
• Access controls and authentication requirements

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal information
• Correction: Update or correct your information through your account settings
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt-out: Unsubscribe from notification emails (excluding essential account emails)
• Data portability: Request your data in a portable format

The Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.
